Catherine A. Lewis

Catherine A. Lewis, age 85, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

Born in Pedricktown, NJ on July 20, 1937, she was the oldest daughter of the late Sheridan U. Bach and Elta N. (James) Bach. Catherine worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone for a few years.  Taking a break to raise her children, she later worked in retail starting with Almart’s and retiring from K-Mart.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Lewis; daughter, Lisa Lewis; and siblings, Helen Ruth Jones and George T. Bach. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Baynum of Bear, Stephen Lewis of Newark, and Peter Lewis (Connie) of Elk Mills, MD; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-granddaughters.

All services will be held privately.
