Charles A. “Chuck” Clark

Charles A. “Chuck” Clark, age 90, of Newark, DE, passed peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

Born in Chester, PA on February 17, 1933, he was a son of the late William and Gertrude Clark. Chuck graduated from Upper Chichester High School where he was an excellent student and a member of the football team. One of his most famous moments as a player was winning the heart of an opposing team’s cheerleader, Dale Keenly, who became his wife. Chuck and Dale were married 62 wonderful years, and relocated to Newark, DE where they raised 5 loving children.

Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served our country with honor during the Korean war as a member of the Provisional Signal Detachment. After returning home he went to work for Dupont Company where he spent 36 years before retiring to spend more time rooting for his favorite sports teams the Phils, Eagles, and the University of Delaware football team. He and Dale were decades-long Blue Hen season ticket holders, celebrating their victories with Couvasier.

Chuck was a history buff who enjoyed life, loved family gatherings and had countless hobbies including gardening, Sherlock Holmes, and crossword puzzles.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Dale Clark; and older brother, William Clark Jr. He is survived by his children, Steven Clark (Lynette), Diana Padham (Steven), Karen Russo (Arnold), Richard Clark (Maureen), and Elizabeth Buckingham (Roland); 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

All services will be held privately.
