Charles Alfred Lockwood, age 93, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Born in Queen Anne, MD on October 31, 1931, he was a son of the late William Richard and Catharine C. (Simpler) Lockwood. Charles proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He made his career as a machinist and foreman at General Motors in Wilmington, DE.

A friend to the Newark community, Charles was an active member since 1976 of the Freemasons belonging to both Hiram Lodge No. 25 and High Noon Lodge No. 38. He was also a member of the Nur Shriners, Scottish Rite, and York Rite as well as the Moose Lodge. Charles also served as a Boy Scout Leader and spent 13 years a scout master. He enjoyed being a member of the American Leigon and visiting the Italian American Club. Devoted to his faith, Charles was a member of Holy Angels R.C. Church in Newark, DE. He loved spending his free time in nature and could often be found hunting, fishing, and surf fishing.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Lockwood and Wayne Lockwood. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Cocci) Lockwood; children, Charles Lockwood and Brenda Lorenz (Kevin); grandchildren, Charles Woloszyn (Cheri), Cody Lockwood (Paige), Dr. Robert Lockwood (Maria), Mollie Lockwood, and Laura Tillman (Tyler); and great-grandchildren, Drew and Johnny Woloszyn, Jensen Tillman, Sebastian Lockwood, and Trenton Tillman.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a Masonic service will begin at 11 am, followed by a memorial service. Inurnment will be held privately.
