Charles “Charlie” F. Layton, Jr.

Charles “Charlie” F. Layton, Jr., age 89, of Wilmington, DE, born on September 14, 1936, went home to his much-missed wife, Pat and his Creator on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Charlie worked at The Music School of Delaware in Wilmington, until he became ill in July of 2025. He made many great friends during his time there.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by loving wife, Pat, his grandparents, a nephew and an aunt. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Harry Cook of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Susan Hansen (Richard) of Elkton, MD; nieces, Barbara Bright (Geoff) of Pittsboro, NC, Joyce Simmons (Eric) of Earleville, MD Liz Thompson (Kris) of Milford, DE and Fenna Ashwood (Danzig) of Baltimore, MD; nieces and nephews, Lui Shahid (Rahim), Sake Taylor (Austin), Katherine Giezen (Jeff), Adam Bright, Paige Thompson and Brianna Thompson; along with a group of dear friends.

All services will be held privately.
