Charles F. “Charlie” Skinner, age 78, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE on June 9, 1946, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary (Cross) Skinner. Charlie made his career as an insulator for Local Union 42 for 25 years until his retirement.

Charlie enjoyed spending his free time at the Terrace Athletic Club where he was a member. He loved attending his sons’ sports events and never missed a game. Charlie was a fan of Penn State Wrestling and loved cheering on all of the Philadelphia sports teams. His happy place was at the beach and he especially enjoyed boating.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Charles D. “Bubba” Skinner; and brothers, Harry Skinner, Bill Skinner, James Skinner, and George Skinner. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth A. (Dedman) Skinner; sons, John L. Skinner (Christiana), Brian T. Skinner (Eden), James F. Skinner, Michael Andrews (Lori), and Mark Dyer (Hope); grandchildren, Vincent Covington and Charlotte Dyer; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 pm until 6 pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will begin at 11 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlie’s memory to the Delaware Wrestling Alliance, 525 Massaferi Way, Hockessin, DE 19707.

    Sending my deepest condolences on the passing of Charlie. I remember vividly the first time I ever met him. He came into the wrestling room to sign the boys up for the Saturday morning wrestling clinic. It was from then on that he and the rest of the Skinner family became a huge part of the WPHS wrestling family. Sending prayers and love at this time and always.
