Charles H. “Chuck” Spicer III

Charles H. “Chuck” Spicer III, of Newark, DE, passed away at 67, during the early hours of Monday, March 13, 2023 after battling health issues for several years.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 3, 1955, he was the first of three children born to the late Charles Henry and Barbara Ruth (Hendericks) Spicer, Jr. Chuck graduated from Christiana High School, class of 1973. He then dedicated 20 plus years working for DuPont.

Chuck was a passionate Philadelphia Sports enthusiast. He was a devoted, life-long Eagles and Phillies fan, making him the ultimate “Philly Sports Fan”.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William F. Lawler; and his beloved pets, Khaki, Heidi, and Midnight. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Betty Jane Spicer; children, Ryan Spicer (Brittany), Samantha Spicer (partner, Jeff Mato), Elizabeth Keller (MSgt Gavin Sr.), and Robert Harvilla; siblings, Sandra Biggers and Robert Spicer (Carlena); sisters-in-law, Diane Lawler and Barbara Chance (partner, Nancy Mann); brother-in-law,  Richard Chance (Deborah); mother-in-law, Hattie Chance; 7 beautiful grandchildren, Maverick Mato, Kiernan Spicer, Emerson Mato, Gavin Keller Jr., McKenzie Keller, Robert Harvilla III, and Isabella Harvilla; life-long best friend, Ronald Edwards; mother of his 2 children, Carol Cole; two beloved cats, Tigger and Belle; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 3 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 3 pm. Interment will be held privately.
