Charles Raymond “Bucky” McClain

Charles Raymond “Bucky” McClain, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 2, 2018.
Born in Glenville, West Virginia on February 18, 1937, he was a son of the late Louis and Eda Rosalie (Queen) McClain. Charlie made his career as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years, retiring from Greggo & Ferrara in 1999.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to blue grass music, tinkering, watching West Virginia football, gardening and doing whatever he could to help the members of his neighborhood. Charlie was a man of simple taste, unpretentious kindness and good-natured humor. He will be painfully missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Melloney L. (Henline) McClain; siblings, Robert McClain, Ruth Bush, Vinita Johnson Ball, Lewis “Pee-Wee” McClain and Richard “Rat” McClain; and son-in-law, James Grim. He is survived by his daughters, Sophia L. Grim, Janice M. Dignan McClain, and Robin Phillips (Mike); siblings, Russell McClain, Maxine Johnson and Edna Halstead; grandchildren, Stephanie (Michelle), Belinda, Stacy (Jason), Emily (Ty), Dylan, Savannah, and Johnathan; and great grandchildren, Jackson, Lily, Ethan, Amya, Madison and Riley.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, September 7, 2018, at the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022.
