Charlotte Williams

Charlotte (Pepper) Williams, age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018.

Born near Seaford, DE in 1936, she was a daughter of the late D. Gooden and Helen (Mumford) Pepper. After graduating from Seaford High School in 1954, Charlotte attended Orlando Junior College for one year. She continued her education at Brown Vo-Tech and Wilmington General Hospital, where she studied practical nursing and earned her Delaware license in 1956. Charlotte also studied at Carnegie Institute in Cleveland, OH and Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury, MD, becoming an x-ray technician in 1958. She worked in the medical field for over 50 years, retiring in 2011.

In her leisure time, Charlotte enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, going to the beach, traveling, and theatre. A talented homemaker throughout her life, she loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her brother, Cecil A. Pepper. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas H. Williams; daughter, Jane Williams Moore; granddaughter, Pamela Hoyt Moore; sister, Joyce Hildreth (Jack); one niece and five nephews; and many dear friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlotte’s name to Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
