Clara M. Roeder

Clara M. Roeder, age 93, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Born in Dauphin, PA, on May 31, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Garman) Greider. Clara made her career working as a snack bar hostess at DuPont’s Louviers site and Hotel DuPont as well as a breakfast hostess at the Hampton Inn.

Known for her nurturing spirit, Clara was referred to as “Mom” by all the children in her neighborhood. She had a deep affection for animals and rescued several cats. Clara was an avid University of Delaware football fan, and even traveled across the country to cheer them on at away games.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Roeder. She is survived by her children, Spencer R. Greider (Heidi), Debbie M. Roeder, R. Michael Roeder (Jennifer), and Kathy L. Roeder; and grandchildren, Kevin Greider, Julie Greider, Savannah Roeder, and Braden Roeder.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
