Claudia Lynn (Barnwell) Duffy

Claudia Lynn (Barnwell) Duffy, age 77, of Dover, DE, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
Born in Baltimore, MD on February 24, 1945, she was a daughter of the late James and Maxine (Hevener) Barnwell. Claudia was a graduate of H. Fletcher Brown Technical High School in 1963. She worked as a lab technician at Atlas Chemical Co. until she became a mother in 1970, and took on her favorite role as a talented homemaker.
In her spare time, Claudia could often be found solving a crossword or working on a puzzle. She also enjoyed reading and was an avid painter. A friend to the community, Claudia dedicated countless hours as a volunteer at A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in the Kidney Dialysis unit for many years. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Claudia is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas D. Duffy; children, Dawn Hartley (Chris) and Tom Duffy, Jr.; grandchildren, Eric, Carter, and Zach Hartley, and Caleb Beard; siblings, Jim Barnwell (Donna), Lynda Delcollo (Alan Rosenberg), and Ron Barnwell (Donna); and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be held privately.
