Colleen Marguerite Viands, age 67, of Dover, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE on August 29, 1955, she was a daughter of the late William and Lillian (Thomas) McGough. Colleen worked as an ad designer for the News Journal until her retirement.

A friend to the community, Colleen was a dedicated member of St. Anthony’s Club of New Castle. She enjoyed trips to the beach, creating beautiful jewelry, and challenging her husband, Ed to a game of darts. Colleen loved to cook and could often be found in the kitchen making a delicious Irish dinner, which were always paired with “wee ones”. Above all, her most cherished moments were spent with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Harry Viands. She is survived by her children, Janet New, Kimberly DeMarco (Raymond), and Walter “Bud” Oneschuk, Jr. (Aga); siblings, Dorothy McCracken, Patricia Gibson, and Lillian Dulaney; grandchildren, Taylor Lamb (David), Samantha Oneschuk, Kristina Hawke, Matthew Hawke, and Nicholas Oneschuk; and great-granddaughter, Harper.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • We were best of friends in high school. Our 50 th class reunion is tonight. Looked her name up and saw her obituary..I am deeply sorry for your loss. I was so looking forward to catching up with her…I am kind of shocked and saddened but this news. She looked beautiful in the pic posted!
