Connie F. (McAvaney) Smith
September 27, 1963 - June 1, 2023
Connie F. (McAvaney) Smith, age 59, of Wilmington, DE, suddenly passed from this Earth on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
Born in Wilmington, DE on September 27, 1963, she was a daughter of Concetta A. (Francescato) McAvaney and the late Daniel F. McAvaney. Connie devoted her time to caring for her family as a homemaker.
It’s difficult to find the right words to capture who Connie was because she was so multifaceted and unique. She had an infectious laugh and smile for everyone, but could be feisty and sometimes outspoken. Connie always meant well though, her intentions were from the heart. Her family would call her loving and fun. Her friends and neighbors would say she was thoughtful and kind. One thing is for certain, Connie loved her husband, Patrick deeply and depended on him for his devotion and steadfastness throughout their marriage. Patrick never faltered on his love for Connie and they had a long successful union. She was so proud of her daughter, Patricia and loved the time she got to babysit her grandchildren. Connie was a force of nature and sometimes the storm, but her love and devotion for family and friends never wavered. May her beautiful soul now rest in peace and the angels keep her safe for eternity
The Lord heard her cry “Jesus replied ‘I assure you that today you will be with me in paradise.” -Luke 23:43
Connie leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, Concetta McAvaney; long-time devoted husband, Patrick C. Smith; loving daughter, Patricia Smith; 3 beautiful grandchildren, Danielle, Luna, and Lincoln; siblings, Barry, Steven, Kenny, and Debbie; and a host of extended family and friends.
All services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie’s memory to the Newark Senior Center, 200 White Chapel Drive, Newark, DE 19713 or online by clicking here.
