Died: 9/18/2010

Mr. Copher B. Bill Reel, age 78, of Newark, DE, died on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Christiana Hospital.

Born in Petersburg, WV, on April 16, 1932, Mr. Reel was a son of the late Thomas Reel and Erma Judy Reel. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force as a military policeman for four years during the Korean Conflict.

Following his honorable discharge, he chose a career in the automotive industry. As a member of the U.A.W., he was employed with the Chrysler Corporation in Newark, DE, where he retired after over 34 years of service.

An avid and knowledgeable outsdoorsman, Mr. Reel greatly enjoyed fishing (especially surfcasting), hunting, and crabbing. He was a talented gardener as well and was very proud of his always-abundant tomato and cucumber plants. Each fall, he would look forward to going to West Virginia to make maple syrup with his late brother-in-law, Ken Propst.

Mr. Reel attended the Kemblesville (PA) United Methodist Church. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he delighted more than anything else in spending time with his beloved family. He especially doted on his grandsons who affectionately called him Poppy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William F. Billy Reel, a brother, Jim Reel, and a sister, Edna Evans. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence I. Mote Reel; son, Daniel A. Reel (Elizabeth) of Bear, DE; brother, Bobby Reel (Janice) of Starks, LA; sisters, Frieda Propst of Petersburg, WV, Virginia Fitzpatrick of Newark, DE, and Dixie Halsey of Bear, DE; and grandsons, Jonathan D. Reel and Justin T. Reel.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Kemblesville United Methodist Church, 1772 New London Road, Kemblesville, PA, where a second visitation will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
