Cynthia “Cindy” Johnson
September 8, 1953 - March 21, 2026
Cynthia “Cindy” Johnson, age 72, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, DE on September 8, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Irene Hall.
For many years, she worked as a waitress at local restaurants including Govatos, Arsenal on the Green, and Arner’s, where she spent the majority of her career, while also driving a school bus for schools in the New Castle area. Cindy was an amazing friend, and wherever she went, she knew someone.
She loved playing the slots—and insisted she won more than she lost—kept a spotless home, and was known for making fudge every Christmas.
In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Terry Johnson. She leaves many wonderful memories to her daughters, Bridget Johnson of Pass Christian, MS and Shannon Leslie (Josh) of Middletown, DE; sisters, Linda Kane (Tom) of West Grove, PA and Pam Ingle (Grover) of New Castle; and sister-in-law Lynn Johnson of Greenlawn, NY. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Timothy, Jessica, Noah, Samantha, Caleb, and Jaylynn. Cindy also leaves behind her devoted partner of 7 years, Robert Arnold, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.

Cindy touched many people she came into contact with; she gave advice when she could, listened, and was an open ear for others. Cindy loved a good joke and I loved hearing her laugh. One thing I know for sure is that she loved her family. My prayers are with you all. God Bless!

Cindy was a wonderful friend for almost 60 years. There was 4 of us including Cindy and myself that played canasta in her basement during the summers. What a great memory. She had a bridal shower for me when I married and a baby shower when I had my first child. Even though I moved to Florida many years ago, we still talked a couple of times a year and had a strong bond. I loved her. I will miss you dear friend. I’m praying for all her family especially her daughters, sisters and grandchildren. ❤🙏
