Cynthia Joy “Cindy” Walker

October 22, 1946 - April 18, 2026

Cynthia Joy “Cindy” Walker, age 79, of Middletown, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, Memaw, sister, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and vibrant presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born in in Mobile, Alabama, on October 22, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Rita Vendrick. Cindy dedicated 25 years of her career to AstraZeneca, where she was known for her strong work ethic and the many lasting friendships she formed before retiring.

Outside of her career, Cindy found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family. She loved going on motorcycle rides and especially cherished her trips to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which were among her favorite adventures. She also enjoyed vacationing with her grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Cindy also loved to shop, a pastime that brought her joy and often resulted in thoughtful gifts for those she loved. Cindy’s love, strength, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her brother, James Vendrick; and grandson, Danny Meredith. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 25 years, Kenneth H. Walker, with whom she shared a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. She is also survived by her brother, Malcolm Vendrick (Louann). Cindy leaves behind a cherished and loving family, including her children: Candi Melton (Rob), Chelsea Caskey (Adam), Joey Stevens, Jeffery Stevens, Denise Quin; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Stevens. She was a proud and devoted Memaw to 16 grandchildren, and she was a wonderful Memaw to her 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Delaware Hospice for their compassionate care and support. A special thank you is given to Valerie and Christine for the exceptional kindness, comfort, and loving care they provided to Cindy and her family during this time.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, 451 Port Penn Road, Middletown, DE.
