Cyril “John” Pierce Quesenberry, Jr.
July 11, 1955 - February 10, 2025
In Loving Memory of Cyril “John” Pierce Quesenberry, Jr.
It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Cyril “John” Pierce Quesenberry, Jr. on February 10, 2025. Born on July 11, 1955, in Wilmington, John passed suddenly and unexpectedly due to complications from surgery, surrounded by his beloved partner, Rose Davalos, and his daughter, Stephanie Magaha. We had hoped for many more years with him, as he lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, humor, and dedication.
John was a devoted partner to Rose, a loving father, an unwavering friend, and a cherished member of his Mariners Cove community, where he worked for the past 25 years. He was also a proud Mason, a distinction that reflected his deep commitment to brotherhood and service. His passion for helping others, his love of fishing, his long road trips to Virginia, and his cherished walks on the beach with Rose—collecting sea glass and sharing laughter—were all a testament to the vibrant spirit he embodied. If you knew John, you had a friend for life. Whether you needed a helping hand or a burst of laughter, John was always there, touching hearts right up to his final moments.
John spent much of his time at the beach with friends and family, relishing the simple joys of life. Devoted to his community, he was ever-ready to lend a hand, even after his recent retirement when he convinced his colleagues to allow him to work part-time. His passion for fishing, along with his Sunday tradition of watching football and cheering for the Eagles, will forever be remembered. As an amazing father, his warm phone calls, infectious laughter, and the treasured memories he created will remain in our hearts always.
John is survived by his life partner, Rose Davalos; his daughter, Stephanie Magaha (and her husband, Joseph Magaha); his grandchildren, including Joanna Weber (with her husband, Nick Weber), Michael D. Iannone, III (with his wife, Kaylee Iannone), and Coleman Z. Yates; and his great-granddaughter, Desley Iannone.
He is also lovingly remembered by his predeceased family members: his daughter, Joanna Quesenberry; his mother, Wanda Quesenberry; and his father, Cyril P. Quesenberry.
Cyril’s gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to his family and community will be deeply missed. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held on April 19, 2025, at Amvets Post 2, 32592 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, Delaware, from 11:00 AM to 4:20 PM. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring his remarkable life and enduring legacy.

To my Dear Auntie Rose and all beloved family and friends of John,
I pray for comfort for you during some of the hardest moments of your life with the passing of such an incredible spirit. He gained his wings early and I know you feel robbed of time & moments “ yet to be” and I know time right now is a true measure of your strength; However, I may not have had the pleasure of knowing John but I know my Auntie Rose and know her sparkle ✨ would only attract the most kind of souls and believe John to be a part of this rare breed of people and therefore I know you feel as if a light that made your world seem “right”, was extinguished, a light that shone brightly and proud no matter the circumstances. Please, accept my condolences as minuet as they seem at this sad time and know I truly pray for you to find comfort in your memories of John and pray you get many chances to sit back and daydream of the fond past you shared with him… the hard times, the good times….the funny times… the happy times….times of need he came to your rescue…. And the numerous times he spread his “light” in your world and how grateful you are for ever getting to share him as a great friend, father, lover, son, brother, coworker, colleague, customer, neighbor, etc. May he eternally rest in peace and may the moments you shared be a comfort to you in this great time of need. Love and light, namaste’,
