Daniel J. Vacula

October 1, 1955 - December 28, 2020

Daniel J. Vacula, age 65, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020.

Born in Summit, NJ on October 1, 1955, he was a son of the late Charles and Olga (Lagowicz) Vacula. Daniel enjoyed cooking, photography, and reading in his spare time. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clark, NJ. He was proud of his sons’ accomplishments, supporting their activities as his health allowed, including Scouting, God’s Power and Light Theater Company, Odessa Fire Company, and various sports teams.

In addition to his parents, Daniel is preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred V. Violett and Alexander C. Vacula. He is survived by his dear wife of 37 years, Carla J. Abel-Vacula; sons, Lukas D. Vacula and Nicolas O. Vacula; sister-in-law, Alice M. Vacula; nieces, Kathryn Bowman (Michael) and Nicole Vacula; great nephew, James Bowman; and great niece, Cora Bowman.

A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A second visitation will be held from 6 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2265 Red Lion Road, Bear, DE, followed by a memorial service at 7 pm. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Interment will be held privately.

  • I always enjoyed talking with Dan, he truly was an amazing person and always had kind words and inspirational words for me. When I think of Dan the first word that comes to mind is how Kind and positive he was to everyone he touched. My Heart and Prayers go out to Carla, Lukas and Nico…

  • Dan was a wonderful man. I’ve been cutting his hair for the past 6 years, we always had great talks and he shared many recipes with me. I will miss him greatly. Carla, I am so sorry for your loss, as well as the boys.
