Daniel Victor “Danny” Huyett

June 8, 1948 - December 8, 2023

Daniel Victor “Danny” Huyett, age 75, of Middletown, DE, peacefully passed away at his residence on Friday, December 8, 2023.

Born in Bremerhaven, Germany on June 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Daniel G. and Margaret (Kutches) Huyett. Danny graduated from Mt. Penn High School near Reading, PA in 1966. In October of that year, he enlisted in the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam for 1 ½ years after basic training. Danny was an auto mechanic with Mack Trucks for 30 years. His love of boats and mechanics led him to work for a Mercury Outboard dealership after his retirement.

Danny’s love of history led him to join a military unit of reenactors. For 35 years, he marched, stood guard, reenacted battles, and increased his knowledge of the Revolutionary War. Danny was an encyclopedia of historical events. He was an avid hunter an enjoyed hunting and shooting with his sons and grandsons in his spare time. As a proud pop pop, he loved watching his grandsons play baseball and football.

Danny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Terry; son, Jared (Kathy) of Bishopville, MD; three grandsons, Cole, Bryce, and Brooks; and his sister. Danelle (Anthony) of Amsterdam, NY.

He is at peace now with the Lord. A new beginning, pain free.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11:30 am. Due to weather conditions, Danny’s committal service has been rescheduled to begin at 2 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Danny’s name to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or online by clicking here or to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 3033 Wilson Blvd., Ste. 300, Arlington, VA 22201 or online by clicking here.
