Darlene “Wanda” Hendy-Green
Born on November 18, 1952, Darlene “Wanda” Hendy-Green, was a native of Brooklyn, NY and educated in the New York Public School system.
She began her working career as a Directory Assistance Operator with the New York Telephone Company. Thereafter, she worked at the New York City Fire Department as an Administrative Assistant where she met and later married Lt. William O Green, her husband of 23 years and friend of 38.
In 2004, they founded W.O. Green Corporate Services, LLC, a thriving business enterprise. It has been said that Bill was the mastermind, but Wanda was the backbone. In 2008, she became a licensed private investigator.
She was preceded in transition by her father, Robert A. Hendy (1993) and her grandmother, Jessie Lee McCrary (1993). Wanda leaves to spread her love and life story: her mother, Jennie Cordero; husband, Lt. FDNY/Chief Master Sergeant, USAF William O. Green; daughters, Adrienne Hendy-Hogan-Green, Celena Green and Michelle Anderson; son, William Green, Jr.; siblings, Johnnie Cordero, Michael Hendy, Robert Hendy, Te’ Cordero, Anita DeVita and Rashaun Canty; sisters and brothers in life, Barbara Hall, Rose Jones, Peter Hopson and T.C. Jenkins; grandchildren, Najah, Anyah, Tarik, Tasia, A.J., and Maddie; great grandchildren, Aydan Weston, Nola Sutton; The Cordero, Sivells, Kimble, Jones, Hopson, and Jenkins families; and a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren in life.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, followed by a funeral service at 1 pm. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Interment will be held privately.

I’m amazed of how strong Wanda really was, who goes through all of that pain without stopping only to wake up one day unable to walk. I can’t begin to imagine the blow she felt finding that she had stage four Cancer let alone the pain your family felt and is still feeling from her departure. Wanda had a zest about her that I never saw in anyone else, i know she loved her family and her life, she didn’t miss a beat. It’s easy to say she didn’t suffer long, I’m sure it was like an eternity while laying in her hospital bed trying to cope. I glad I got the chance to see her smiling face almost two years ago. May peace be with all of you, see you later Wanda! Love you!

Adrienne, what beautiful picture of mommy and an awesome job you’ve done with obituary. Thank you for sharing your mom with me growing up back in the day, so much so, she became Godmother to my son Hakiem. Although, we have not been in touch for quite some time, you, mom and all the memories remained very very dear in our hearts.
