David Swanson

David Swanson, age 51, of New Castle, DE, passed away at home unexpectedly on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

Born in New Castle, DE on February 7, 1971, he was a son of the late John “Jack” and Margie “Gail” (Greene) Swanson. David was a graduate of William Penn High School in 1989, where after graduating he joined the family business Ace Tire Service, with his father and brothers. Later David worked at Lafarge Gypsum and after their closure finished his career at W.L. Gore in Elkton, Maryland.

David was a dedicated Cowboys fan, and enjoyed going to the University of Delaware football games and following NASCAR. For many years he enjoyed working on his motorcycles and his 69 Chevelle. He loved spending time with his grandson Beau and his nieces and nephew Aubrey, Ryder, and Italia.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, John “Jack – Big Jack” Swanson.  He is survived by his daughters, Kaitlyn (Daniel, Beau), Erin Squillace (Billy), and Jaclyn (Zachery); sister, Lynn Bloom (David); and brother, Daniel; nieces and nephews, Brianna, Tia, Heaven, Jonathan, Timmy and Brent, with whom he loved very much.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
