Dawn Marie Benton, age 59, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE on June 8, 1966, she was the daughter of Joan E. (Guessford) Benton and the late George H. Benton, Jr. Dawn was a graduate of William Penn High School. She worked in banking for over twenty years until deciding to change her career. After attending Dawn Career Institute for medical coding and billing, Dawn switched careers again and found her career niche in the home healthcare field. She loved working with the elderly and physically challenged clients. Dawn will be missed by all she cared for along with her co-workers.

As a child, Dawn studied ballet, tap, and twirling at Miss Elva’s Dance Studio. She was also a Girl Scout in grade school and junior high school. Dawn loved to have fun with her friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many states with her parents. Dawn loved going to the beach and having fun in her mom’s pool in the summer. She was especially passionate about animals.

Dawn is survived by her mother, Joan E. Benton; brother, Charles “Chuck” Guessford (Mary); sister, Patricia Ann Fogg (Donald); niece, Jenna R. Guessford; and nephew, Charles R. “Chuck” Guessford, Jr. (Steph), and special friend Jaouad Moulo.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
