Denise E. Schultz Sowinski - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Denise E. Schultz Sowinski

May 18, 1970 - July 26, 2021

Denise E. Schultz Sowinski, affectionately known as “Neece”, “NeeNee”, “Tiny” or “Buttercup” age 51, of Glen Rock, PA, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Denise had touched in so many ways throughout her life.

Denise was born in Baltimore, MD, on May 18, 1970, to James E Schultz and Gloria J Allred Morgan (birth mom). Denise is survived by her two children, Matthew, his partner, Shana, and Katie; her parents, James and Paula Schultz (real Mom); her partner/future husband, David Garrett; brothers; James, Michael (Timmy), and Aaron; sister, Leah; brother-in-law, Dustan Flom; her nieces, Rori and Anya; and her grandfather, Walter (Judgy) Majerowicz.

Denise was a dedicated mother first and foremost, raising Matt and Katie on her own. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was a very active person, never stopping, always moving. She became a farmer due to her love of animals, second only to her children. Among her animals were: chickens, goats, donkeys, cows, and horses. Every animal had a personal name. Example: Buttercup was the horse’s name, one of the cows was Mrs. Butterworth, one of the goats was Barry Big Balls, etc. Not to leave out the wiener dogs, Mocha, Tootsie, and Puppers!

Denise also cleaned houses on the side. She not only cleaned their house, but she became close friends with most of her clients. She was the go-to person in our family. Always pitching in to help whatever the occasion. She loved to cook, bake, and entertain, hosting many parties – who can forget her infamous barn parties! What an amazing cook she was, making many of her favorite dishes for her family, friends, and clients.

We thank the Lord for giving us these 51 glorious years with her, but evidently, he has bigger and better plans for her. Who knows, maybe he would like a filet mignon on top of a deep-fried cheese potato ball, topped with fried shrimp and bacon, all on a bed of seared asparagus.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

To honor Denise and reflect on her time with us, all friends and family are invited to the celebration of her life at the farm she loved. Date will be announced later.

  • Hi, I work for the US Army Corps of Engineers CIO/G6 so I’m a co-worker of Paula Schultz. Although I don’t know your family personally, I wanted to express my condolences to you all during such a difficult time for any family to go through. I lost one of my sons when he was 31 so I’m familiar with the deep sadness that is experienced after such a loss. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers and I wish you peace “that passes all understanding” and comfort which can only come from the Great Comforter, Jesus Christ.

  • You were my big “little” sister. Always had my back, always made sure I was ok. The rock in the family. I’ll miss you so much. I love you, please watch over me from above <3

  • What a special, giving woman Denise was, plus a truly AMAZING baker!! Sometimes Katie would just show up at work with all kinds of goodies her mother (Denise) made for all of us to enjoy for no other reason than “just because”. Her daughter is an amazing reflection of the love Denise invested in her children, because Katie truly is a “one-in-a-million” young lady that I know made her mother proud. Even though I don’t know Matt her son, I’ve heard the same about him. Clearly the Lord has a special place and need for Denise in heaven that could not wait. My heart breaks for all of her loved ones, but especially for Katie because everyone knew that her mother was truly her best friend in the world, . My prayers go out to all of Denise’s children, family members, and loved ones, including all of the lives her precious generous heart touched.

  • My heart is heavy and💔 broken. I’m loss for words at this moment. She was one of my BFF growing up and still was today. She will be missed by so many people. She was a true friend and would be there for you in a minute. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, James Schultz, Paula Schultz , Katie Ann, Matt, Leah, Aaron, Timmy and Jimmy along with everyone who knew her and loved her. We’ve had so many wonderful memories together that I will hold dear to my heart. I will always love you sweetness. If anyone can help her family with the costs of her hospital bills so that her family don’t need to worry about them and can mourn the loss of our beautiful Angel, Denise properly. It’s been a while since we got together but I thought of you all the time. I will see you again when God is ready for me and we can continue to have lots of laughs and dance till the sun comes up again. It was never a dull moment with you and a pleasure to have known you since we were in our teens. I miss you so much already.

  • My fondest memory of Denise is when her and I would go to WV to rainbow road and line dance. Never a dull moment, she was her own light, her children, and family were. her rock. Prayers to the Shultz family, God is taking good care of Denise. Praying for you in this time, but know god is always with you. ❤🌹

We shared a love of animals and I heard she had fallen ill and just now found out this news of her passing. Our prayers and sympathy go out to all of you.. We know GOD has a plan and we cannot understand and our hearts ache and hurt here for those left behind for now. We are so thankful for the assurance we have that we will see our loved ones again one day in Heaven. She just was such a LIGHT to everyone. She made you Smile and I remember sharing with her she should host a Tv show or cooking show – Such Talent. Forever in our hearts. • I am just completely stunned stumbling across this very sad news on Facebook. I have been reluctant in writing something here, but I can’t go on any further without doing so. My heart is very heavy thinking about Denise and I have Denise’s family on my mind also. I’ve lost my sister, brother, father, and then mother and I can relate to your sorrow because Denise was such a special lady. Such a beautiful woman, great cook and hard worker.., always amazed me on how such a small frame had that much horsepower! She was a great person to know and laugh with and taught me a lot of things. I still to this day have her sayings in my head that I go back on and listen to. We had lost touch these last few years and I’m so sad to not be able to say goodbye. So, Denise, I’ll see you again someday when we meet again in gods country…You left us way to soon… Rest In Peace for now and god bless you and all of your friends and family

  • Denise was a huge support for me over many years as a busy dad, who traveled often, as well as a becoming a great friend and inspiration and help for me over the years, and awesome caregiver, friend and inspiration for my daughter, who she often spent time with and cared for, as she was growing up, starting at a young age. I am extremely thankful. My daughter and I both miss her and think about her often. She had a huge positive impact on our lives.
Denise was inspiring to me in everything she did, how positive she was, and her great family.
