Dennis Duckett, age 79, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Born in Endicott, NY on October 25, 1944, he was a son of the late James and Leona (Morris) Duckett. Dennis attended Seton Catholic High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps., including a 13-month tour in Vietnam. He attended Broome College in Bingham, NY and graduated with honors, earning a degree in Electrical Technology.

Dennis married Catherine Cooper on April 6, 1968 in Endicott, NY. They moved to Newark, DE where he began his career with DuPont Co. They later moved to Elkton, MD where he was very active in the Immaculate Conception Parish, playing guitar and singing, working with the homeless community, and various committees. Dennis enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime such as softball, basketball, running 10K races with his son, reading, fishing at Thurman Pond in the Adirondacks, and golfing with his good friends. He retired in 2007. Dennis and Cathy travelled across the United States and continued travelling with trips to Europe, South Africa, New Zealand, and China. They wintered in Florida each year and enjoyed spending time with many friends in their St. Petersburg community. His most enjoyable times were always spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren on every imaginable occasion.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cathy; children, Michael Duckett (Arlene) of Managua, Nicaragua, Colleen Estes (Michael) of Elkton, MD, and Sara Cann (Tim) of Newark; grandchildren, Noah Duckett, Annie Estes, Clare Estes, Loki Krukosky, Joshua Duckett, Zoe Duckett, Zia Duckett, Andrew Martin, Madison Cann, and Julianna Cann; siblings, Regina Davis, Margaret Orzel, Mary Gelatt, Beth Zimmerman, and Patty Hotalen; sisters-in-law, Becky Cooper and Gerry Beane; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather from 3 pm until 5 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. Services and interment will be held privately.
