Diane E. Thomas - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Diane E. Thomas

January 10, 1940 - April 11, 2023

Diane E. Thomas, age 83, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. If her life were a book, it would be a thousand pages.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on January 10, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Caroline (Malice) Lombardo, Sr. Diane was a talented homemaker, dedicating her life to taking care of her family.

In her spare time, Diane loved to go to yard sales and went shopping at Cowtown every Tuesday. She was quite spontaneous, frequently taking day trips to Wildwood, NJ, Ocean City, MD, or last-minute trips to Vermont or Key West, FL. Her annual vacation to Treasure Island, FL with her granddaughters always made her happy. Diane did what she wanted, when she wanted, and she didn’t ask for permission and she surely never asked for forgiveness. She was a neighborhood mom to all the kids; she loved being involved and always made time to listen to anyone who needed to talk. Diane was a devoted wife to her husband for over 65 years and while she drove him crazy, he wouldn’t have had it any other way. She loved him dearly; they were never apart and now they are together again. Spending time with her grandkids was truly her greatest love of all. Diane cherished each and every one of them. Mom, we miss you and we love you and we thank you for all of the lessons you have taught us.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Greig “Ken” Thomas, Sr; daughter, Michelle Leigh Thomas; and siblings, Nick Lombardo, Jr., and Jimmy Verrucci. She is survived by her children, Kenneth G. Thomas, Jr., John C. Thomas (Kim) and Melissa L. Thomas; grandchildren, Greig, Victoria, Letitia, Jamie, Christopher, Brittany, and Aaron; 6 great-grandchildren; and grand pup, Gus.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Diane’s memory to the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware, 669 S. Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805 or online by clicking here.
