Dolores C. Hunt
December 29, 1934 - February 12, 2025
Dolores C. Hunt went home peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Born in Salem, New Jersey on December 29, 1934, Dolores was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Hancock Christoff. She graduated from Salem High School in 1952 and married her high school sweetheart, Billy G. Hunt, in July of 1954. They were married for 48 years and resided in Cochranville, PA. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Christoff of Bridgeton, NJ.
Dolores worked for several years at DuPont Co., Chambers Works as a secretary before retiring to raise her children. She was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Newark, Delaware for 63 years, volunteering in the nursery, helping to prepare meals for Wednesday night Bible Study, and managing the Clothing Closet, which provided free clothing to members of the Newark community in times of need. Countless Saturdays were spent washing, sorting and folding clothes, ministering to the people in the community.
She had a passion for reading, and would sometimes spend hours curled up with a good book. Her favorite authors were Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie. Dolores’s life was dedicated to her family and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Vari (Steven) and Anne Roth (Robert); sons, William Hunt (Ellie), Jon Hunt, and Donald Hunt (Christine); grandchildren, Rebekah Rhoads (John), Christopher Vari (Christina), Katelynn DaCunha (Anthony), Isabella Hunt, Faith Roth, and Shane Roth; and great-grandchildren, Seth, Eric and Nathan Rhoads, Calvin, Elizabeth and Catherine Vari, and Leia and Perrin DaCunha.
Dolores had a loving heart and was most happy when she was helping others. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, 215 East Delaware Avenue, Newark, DE 19711, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately in Eglington Cemetery.
