Don Elmer Lutte

December 10, 1937 - October 2, 2022

Don Elmer Lutte, age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Born in Allentown, PA, on December 10, 1937, he was a son of the late Elmer and Anna (Wagner) Lutte. Don was a graduate of West Chester University. He was retired from Elkton Middle School where he was a physical education and health teacher for 39 dedicated years.

Active in his community, Don enjoyed time he spent as a youth football official and softball umpire. He was a proud Eagles fan and looked forward to time spent at the beach. Most of all, his family was everything to him, and he especially loved time spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann (Powell) Lutte; son, Timothy W. Lutte; and brother, Ron Lutte. He is survived by his loving daughters, Tamara Averell (John), and Karen Justison (Johnny); grandchildren, Lauren Gates (Jack), Katharine Averell (Melissa), and Brooke Justison (David); great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Gates; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Don’s hospice nurse, Jessica, for the exceptional kindness and care given during his illness.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 111 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713.
