Donald James “Don” Ehart
December 5, 1937 - May 14, 2024
Donald James “Don” Ehart, age 86, of Townsend, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE on December 5, 1937, he was a son of the late William and Hannah (Willis) Ehart of New Castle. Don was a graduate of William Penn High School and a member of Wilmington Manor Fire Company, where he met his future wife of 60 plus years, Lindy. Don served in the Delaware Air National Guard out of New Castle where he worked as a mechanic and a load master. He loved to tell stories of his travels. He also retired from Dupont Experimental Station in Wilmington.
Although a lifelong resident of Delaware, Don loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises with Lindy. Other than his love for his family, his greatest passion was Mickey Mouse and Disney World. Don visited Disney World in Florida more than thirty times; he actually lost count. He would frequently tell his family his “Mickey ears were wilting”. Don and Lindy took each of his grandchildren to Disney World creating a whole new generation of Disney fans.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Alene Saffo of Wilmington. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Belinda “Lindy” (LaRue) Ehart; children, Mark Ehart of Townsend, Terry Lambert (Wayne) of New Castle, and Robert Ehart (Michele) of Townsend; sister, Gail Toland (Richard) of Paoli, PA; 7 grandchildren, Tiffany, Stephanie, Stevi, Paige, Michael, Matthew and Shannon; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will be held privately.
