Donald L. Witte, Sr.
June 16, 1942 - March 1, 2026
Donald L. Witte Sr., age 83, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Born in Grantsville, WV on June 16, 1942, he was a son of the late Dorsey Witte and Laurel (Bourne) Price. Donald proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He made his career as a millwright machinist at DuPont Co. for 28 years until his retirement.
Deep in his faith, Donald was a devoted member of St. Paul’s R.C. Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on classic cars. Most of all, Donald loved making memories with his family.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, whom he cherished deeply, Helen M. (O’Neill) Witte; and siblings, Warren Witte and Thelma Nichols. He is survived by his children, Donald Witte, Jr. (Djuna), Brian Witte (Jennifer), Keith Witte (Jennifer), and Jenny Vanaskey (Ben); sister, Diane Fetter (Richard); grandchildren, Donald III (Amber), Christopher, Ashley (Dan), Courtlyn, Jared, Madelyn, Mackenzie, Hannah, Grace, and Colin; and great-grandchildren, Easton, Knox, Danny, Beckett, Mia, Maven, Hayes, and Noah.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:45 am until 11: 45 am on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 pm. Interment will follow in New St. Paul’s Cemetery, Cox Neck Road, Delaware City, DE.
