Dorothy Jane Evans, age 86, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, DE on November 1, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Willis F. and Ethel (Hughes) Blackburn. Dorothy was a graduate of William Penn High School with the class of 1957. She worked as a bookkeeper at Wilmington Fiber Specialty Company until her retirement.
Dorothy enjoyed spending her free time at the Howard Weston Senior Center. She was also a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald H. Evans; and siblings, Anne Norton and Joyce Blackburn. She is survived by her brothers, Edward (Jeanette) and John (Grace); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
