Edward A. “Bucky” Burke, Jr.

Edward A. “Bucky” Burke, Jr., age 87, of Media, PA, and formerly of New Castle and Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Born in Chester, PA, on June 17, 1938, he was a son of the late Edward A. and Dorothy (Masteller) Burke, Sr. Bucky proudly served his country from 1957 to 1963 in the Air National Guard. He made his career as a maintenance mechanic for DuPont Co. at the Edgemoor Plant, retiring in 1998 after 24 years of dedicated service. Active in his community, Edward was a past master from 1996 to 2000 of Unity Lodge #32 A.F. & A.M., P.J.G.D. from 1998 to 1999 with Grand Staff of Delaware, a past potentate in 2006 at Nur Temple, past master at Christiana Lodge #35 and a member of Joseph B. Stahl American Legion Post #30. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church. In his spare time Bucky enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by wives, Dorothea B. Couter Burke and Erika Grabher (Strauss) Burke; and brother, Robert W. Burke. He is survived by his children, Dennis S. Burke (Darlene), and William Burke (Shannon); siblings, James T. Burke (Eileen), Sheri L. Dunbar (Sam), and Geri L. Burke (Brad); sister-in-law, Cindy Burke; grandchildren, Jaclyn Camacho (Jose), Tara Kelly (Steven), Alyssa Goldhahn (Bill), Ryan Burke, William Burke (Jessica), Lauren Burke, and Lindsay Burke; great-grandchildren, Layla, Noah, Aubrey, Maeve, and Avery; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:45 am until 10:45 am on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a Masonic service will begin at 10:45 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Inurnment will be held privately at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
