Edward Barnes “Barney” Jenks III

Edward Barnes “Barney” Jenks III, age 70, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 12, 2026.

Born in Wilmington, DE on June 28, 1955, he was son of the late Edward Barnes Jenks, Jr. and Doris Marie (Wilson) Pyle. Barney was a graduate of Newark High School. A hard worker and always one to keep busy, he worked in various professions throughout his life.

Barney enjoyed participating in the Bike to the Bay event every year. He also loved traveling to the beach and working out at the gym. Barney was a born again Christian and enjoyed volunteering at church.

In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Jenks. He is survived by his companion, Darlene Squier; siblings, Paul W. Jenks (MaryJane), Deanna Jenks (John McGuire), Barbara Scallion (Tom), and Louisa Jenks (Evelyn Miller); and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 pm until 4 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 4 pm. Interment will be held privately in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
