Eleanor B. “Elly” Dozier, age 95, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. She was born in Scranton, PA on August 12, 1926, to the late Dominick Bagdonas and Victoria (Beliauskas) both Lithuanian immigrants. She was the youngest of ten children who all predeceased her.
During WWII Elly moved to Delaware and finished her last year of high school at Henry C. Conrad High School in 1944. Elly was especially gifted by her love of detail and fiscal responsibility. Her exceptional memory led her to a career at Dravo Shipyard, Hercules, Speakman Company and ultimately Wilmington Trust where she retired after 25 years of service.
In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, Elly was preceded in death in 2001 by her loving husband of 54 years, Melvin R. Dozier. Together they had a devoted son, Ronald D. Dozier, who also passed away September 2021. Elly is survived by many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Elly had a lot of friends from her days at Wilmington Trust and continued to love their families by mentoring the daughters of her fellow students and co-workers. She enjoyed the card club, luncheons and traveling with family and friends. She especially spoke with pride about taking care of her home, cooking, sewing and sunbathing.
Elly was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish. She loved to talk about her favorite Saints and their missions. Padre Pio was one of her many favorites who she turned to in times of worry with his words of “Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry”.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. She heard the summons that
will come to all of us, and fearlessly responded whispering; “I’m coming “. She died as she lived, facing life on her own terms.

She was a special lady who will be missed. She is now at peace and reunited with her husband Mel and her son Ron. What a blessing that is.
