Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Todd
Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Todd, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the age of 97.
Born in Portage, Wisconsin, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Zetta Irene (Weinke) Capron and Clair Whitman Capron. She spent most of her life in Wisconsin and Illinois until moving to Delaware in 2010. Elizabeth married Jerome Allen Sievert in 1952 and they had one son, Allen. After Jerome died in 1968, Elizabeth married John Burl “Jack” Todd, Jr. and they enjoyed over thirty-eight years of marriage.
Elizabeth, known to her friends as Betty, had many interests. She was an active member of Community Protestant Church, Mundelein, IL serving as a Sunday School teacher and Financial Secretary; she also volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Libertyville, IL. Betty’s working career included Bell Telephone, sales, retail, bookkeeping, and an answering service. An avid reader and lover of music, Betty was a keenly intelligent and independent woman. Betty enjoyed theatre and playing bridge, but most of all, she was a devoted Mother. Betty was loved by many and will be greatly missed for her humor and outlook.
Betty, now in eternity with Jesus, joins Jack, her parents, and her dear sister, Clarice (Capron) Stuthers. She is survived by her son, Allen Capron Sievert; loving daughter-in-law, Laura Louise (Phillips) Sievert; granddaughter, Evelyn Phillips Sievert; and grandson, Nathan Allen Sievert.
The family is deeply appreciative of the love and care Betty received during her time in Newark at Paramount (White Chapel), Churchman Village, Christiana Hospital, and Accent Care.
All services will be held privately.
Condolences
