Elizabeth F. Holly, age 94, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 19, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Frances (Hottenstein) Heitzman.

Elizabeth was a secretary for the State of Delaware before retiring from the University of Delaware. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Elizabeth attended the Howard Weston Senior Center and enjoyed sewing, Wii bowling, reading, and spending time with her family. She was a talented quilter who made beautiful quilts for her great grandchildren. Elizabeth enjoyed and looked forward to spending Friday girl’s night with her daughter, Carol; two nieces, Donna and Kimmi; and Julie when she was home from Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard E. Holly. Elizabeth is survived by her children, David and Carol Holly-Winter (Don); grandchildren, Melissa, Jen, and Scott; and great grandchildren, Robert, Abby, Mikey, and Dante.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. She was a very gentle, pleasant lady with a nice smile!
    I spent many happy hours with Betty both at Weston Sr Ctr and other places. She was a very good Wii bowler and on our team for many years.

    I will really miss her as I know Betty’s family and neice Donna and her family will.

    My sympathies to her daughter, son, grandchildren and her neice and her daughters who she dearly loved.
