Eric W. Fischer, “Fisch”
September 5, 1957 - March 5, 2023
Eric W. Fischer, “Fisch”, son of Catherine Fischer and William Fischer (deceased), passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Eric was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, on September 5, 1957. He grew up in Willingboro, New Jersey, and graduated from John Fitzgerald Kennedy High School in Willingboro, New Jersey. Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University. Fisch was also a Wolfpack athlete, earning a spot on the football and basketball team at NC State. He worked as an Engineer Program Manager with Lockheed Martin. After retiring from Lockheed Martin, he taught engineering and coached football at Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical High School in Bear, Delaware. He also coached basketball at St. George’s Technical High School and most recently at Hodgson Vo Tech.
Eric would always greet you with a smile, a joke, or a helping hand. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. He lived his life by the Golden Rule, “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you…”, Gospel of Matthew (7:12). He loved coaching high school football and basketball because he was able to work with countless young adults as their coach and mentor. Eric often shared that one of his greatest accomplishments in life was helping so many young adults reach their goal of attending university. He was a big-hearted man who lived his life fully and with joy. Those he leaves will remember him with love.
Eric is survived by his wife, Nina Pappoulis, son Kyle Fischer (Megan), mother Catherine Fischer, brother Kurt Fischer (Lois), niece Frances Fischer, and nephew William Fischer. Eric was predeceased by his father, William Fischer. Eric was also proud to be a father figure to Kyle Taylor.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home at 275 E. Main Street, Middletown, Delaware on Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eric’s memory to Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware, 669 S. Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805 or online by clicking here.

As my coach and one of my favorite people in this world he was like a father away from home or a best friend I never had. He was always there for me whenever I needed him no matter what. Even though he is gone I will never forget him. He will forever be in my thoughts and memories. Remembering the all the dad jokes and talks we had. Rest easy big Fisch gone but never forgotten.

Eric was a friend of mine from RCA/GE/Martin Maietta/ Lockheed Martin. I sat next to Eric when i first started with RCA in 1981 and we have been friends ever since. He will always be remembered by his infectious laugh, smile, good heart, eagerness to help and friendship. After he left Lockheed Martin, i would stop by an visit with him on the way to visit my son in DC. It was like i just saw him the day before, except we had alot to catch up on. I did this way too few times. I will miss him.

Eric is gone too soon. I worked with Eric for over 20 years in Moorestown. We only saw each other at work but regardless of the reason, I always enjoyed spending time with him. He could always brighten my day. I hope I did that same for him. I know the Lord is holding him close and pray the Lord provides comfort to his family.
