Esther P. Carlisle (Temple) Stanonis

Esther P. Carlisle (Temple) Stanonis, age 98, of Xenia and formerly of New Castle, Delaware, left this earth to be with her Savior, Jesus, Friday, September 12, 2025 from Legacy Village in Xenia, Ohio. She was born October 12, 1926, in New Castle, Delaware, the daughter of Olin and Bertha (Ross) Carlisle.

In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her sons, Richard and Mark Temple and brothers: William (Louise) and Bernard (Millie) Carlisle.

She is survived by her loving daughter: Peg (Robert) Sampson of Cedarville, Ohio; grandchildren: Robert Sampson, Amanda Ridge, David (Lyn) Sampson, Audrey Temple, Jeffrey (Brittany) Sampson, Daniel (Maile) Sampson; 11 great grandchildren: Mia and Siri Ridge, and Isabel, Wyatt, Adelle, Zoey, Garrett, Kenzie, Emmett, Zeke and Lani Sampson; as well as nieces and nephews and friends.

Esther was a graduate of Wilmington High School (1944) and Delaware Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse. Before she and her son, Mark Temple, moved to Xenia OH, near her daughter, she worked at Hillside House Nursing Home and Building Blocks Day Care. She was a former member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Newark.

She enjoyed watching Mark in Special Olympics, caring for people, participating in church activities, sewing, anything to do with babies and anything chocolate.

Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist Church in Xenia, Ohio. She will be buried at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE at a later date.
