Eugene C. “Gene” Campbell, Sr., age 89, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
Born in Fairbank, PA on June 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Jesse and Elsie (McNatt) Campbell. Gene proudly served in the United States Airforce. He worked as an assembler at General Motors.
In his younger years, Gene enjoyed roller skating which led him to meet his future wife, Eleanor, at the Merryland Roller Rink in Glasgow, DE. He also loved woodworking and visiting auctions in his spare time. Most of all, Gene loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Slaughter, Ina Sales and Geraldine Harkness. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Eleanor F. (McNeal) Campbell; sons, Eugene Campbell, Jr. (Lorraine) and Daniel Campbell (Jessica), both of Smyrna; and sisters, Helen Baker of Dover, Catherine Rugola of Republic, PA, and Alice Washlock of Cleveland, OH.
All services will be held privately.
