Florence E. “Flo” DiTeodoro - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Florence E. “Flo” DiTeodoro

November 21, 1957 - August 23, 2019

Florence E. “Flo” DiTeodoro, age 61, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2019, surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, DE on November 21, 1957, she was a daughter of Dolores J. (Zaini) Iezzi and the late Joseph Iezzi.  Flo enjoyed success in many fields through the years, including tenures as a school bus driver and board certified nail technician, but the “job” she enjoyed the most was that of Mom and Grandmother.

Family always came first and she would always go out of her way to ensure that they were taken care of. Flo tirelessly supported all of her children’s endeavors, even well into their adulthood. She loved all of her grandsons and took advantage of every opportunity available to spend time with them, which usually came in the form of babysitting, pool time and sleepovers. Flo loved live music, a cold Malibu Bay Breeze and all of her furry children. She also loved the beach which included many trips with her husband to Ocean City, Maryland, Jamaica and Mexico, where they renewed their wedding vows. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.

In addition to her father, Flo was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Iezzi, Jr.; sister-in-law, Rose Iezzi; and mother-in-law, Lois DiTeodoro.  She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Mario R. DiTeodoro, Jr.; mother, Dolores J. (Zaini) Iezzi; children, Mario R. DiTeodoro III (Michelle) of Newark, Carl J. DiTeodoro (Shannon) of Clayton and Jessica N. Ruiz (Josh) of Dover; siblings, Marie Murson (Keith) of Elkton, MD and Thomas Iezzi of Bear; grandsons, Carl J. DiTeodoro, Jr., Anthony D. DiTeodoro and Mario R. DiTeodoro IV; father-in-law, Mario DiTeodoro, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am.  Interment will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery, Odessa, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Flo’s memory to the charity of your choice.

  • Momma Flo. From the first time i came to your house when band practice moved to Netherlands Dr you treated me the same as Rob, Carl, and Jessie. Just another son. Made me eat dinner even when i politely said i was ok because you knew i would always eat. From all the band stuff you got for us: shirts, towels, random presents to sometimes being one of the only people to be at the show you tirelessly supported us and all the activities your kids were involved in. I’ll always remember how proud you were always of your kids accomplishments and most importantly how you treated me like family. You will be forever missed but never forgotten.

  • With a heavy heart I write this but with the fondest memories. We have known each other since childhood. She was Bob’s girlfriend as far back as I can remember! She was a poster for the best, wife, mom and friend. We all could learn something from Flo and Bob as to how they loved each other and did so for so many years ! There has not been a word yet invented to describe the pain and loss her family is feeling. I just hope and pray, with speed ,that their sadness is soon replaced with just great memories.
