Florence Handley
June 29, 1931 - March 23, 2025
Florence Handley, age 93, of Townsend, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Born and raised in South Orange, NJ on June 29, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Lagravenese) Cappaze. Florence made her career as an office manager and bookkeeper at a real estate office, retiring at 88 years old. She then moved to Delaware to be closer to her family.
A woman of faith, Florence was a member of the Rosary Society in New Jersey for 30 years. She enjoyed spending her spare time at the MOT Senior Center or relaxing with a book. Florence could often be found in her kitchen cooking a delicious meal for her loved ones. Most of all, she greatly cherished her family and the memories she made with them.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, William Walter Handley, Jr.; and 8 siblings. She is survived by her children, Sharon Handley, Lisa Rites (Jerry), and Bill Handley (Katy); 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandsons.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. Joseph Parish, 319 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. Interment will be held privately in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
