Florisse Coleman Thomas - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Florisse Coleman Thomas

September 25, 1929 - January 24, 2024

Florisse Coleman Thomas, age 94, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Born in Pikeville, KY on September 25, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Green and Riney Caroline (Thacker) Coleman. Florisse dedicated her life to her family as a talented homemaker.

Florisse loved to travel with her husband in their motor home as often as she could. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and sewing for her family and friends. She was an excellent cook. Above all, Florisse loved spending time making memories with her family.

To her friends and family, and especially to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her MomMom, she sewed the tapestry of our family. One where her kindness and unwavering faith always shined with the love of Jesus. And like a familiar country sunrise, her gentle spirit with a sweet twinkle in her eyes would always feel like a well-worn quilt that will forever live in our hearts. Her God honoring legacy to love well and to always find the best in others will continue on for generations.

In addition to her parents, Florisse was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Thomas; son, James M. Thomas; and siblings, Argus Coleman, William Coleman, Kenneth Coleman, Emogene Murphy, Eugene Coleman, Gladys Tucker and Rosetta Benner.

She is survived by her children, Darenda S. Olsen (Gary) of Franklin, TN, Pamela A. Couden of Middletown, and Randall P. Thomas (LeeAnne) of Elkton, MD; siblings, Bobby Coleman (Phoebe) of Newark, Bonita Stephenson of Irmo, SC, and Betty Phillips of Mountain City, TN; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will begin at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
