Gary Lee Stevens, 69, of Bear, DE, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024. Born in Melrose, MA on January 18, 1955, he was a loving brother, uncle, and friend to so many.

Gary was a graduate of Newark High School. He then dedicated over 30 years of service to New Castle County, most of which was in the payroll department. He was a fun-loving individual known for his enjoyment of Hallmark Christmas movies and the music of Barbra Streisand. Gary cherished moments spent with his family and friends, always bringing joy and laughter into their lives.

He is survived by his brother, Robert Stevens; sister-in-law, Lynne Stevens; brother, David Stevens; sister, Sharon Stevens; 5 nieces and nephews, and 4 grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Sophia Stevens, and his brother George Stevens.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 6 pm on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service to celebrate Gary’s life will begin at 6 pm. Inurnment will be held privately.

  • Gary was always friendly toward me during our high school days. Sad to hear of his passing.

  • On the special occasions that I was blessed to spend time with Gary throughout the years, he was always so kind and humble. It was always a joy to see his smiling face.   • Sincere Condolences. Gary and I worked at the County together, carpooled, and did lots of fun things outside the County. The first Christmas card I got each year was from Gary. I will always have fond memories and I’m blessed to have known him.
