Gary Lynn Rhodes, age 75, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Born in Johnstown, PA on May 26, 1949, he was a son of the late Boyd and Ida (Rummell) Rhodes. After graduating high school in 1968, he entered the work force at Woodstock Farms. He then became a custodian for the Maryland School District until he retired.

Gary was a strong believer in God. He attended Fairwinds Baptist Church religiously. Gary loved to travel, bowl, and work in his yard. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Most of all he was a loving and caring husband, step-father, step-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Nancy Rhodes; and his siblings, Alberta, Eileen, Alan, Burl, Richard, and Harold. Gary is survived by his step-daughter with whom he lived with, Beverly Meadow; step-sons, Michael Bench (Christy) and James Bench, Jr. (Jackie); siblings, Wayne Rhodes (Linda) and Gerald Rhodes (Judy); 7 step-grandchildren, Daniel, Kenny, Amy, Jessica, Jenna Lee, Becky, and Michelle; 9 nephews; 8 nieces; and his loving puppy (Yorkie), Diesel.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
