Gayle Marie Czajkowski
September 6, 1947 - September 1, 2023
Gayle Marie Czajkowski, affectionately known as Gigi, Mrs. C, Aunt Gayle, and Mom, age 75, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Gayle was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born in Scranton, PA on September 6, 1947, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Irene (Jones) Booth. Gayle was a class of 1966 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She spent her adult years as a homemaker, raising her four daughters, and caring for her beloved eight grandchildren. Gayle was a caregiver by nature which was what led her to a wonderful 20-year plus career teaching pre-school at Hope Lutheran in New Castle, DE. She also was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader and an avid supporter of various sports teams. Gayle adored making memories with her family; she would look forward to her lifelong tradition of spending summer vacations at Newton Lake. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and you could always count on her to make it special. She also was always her grandchildren’s biggest supporter in their academic achievements, as well as their extracurricular activities.
Gayle was greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents and several siblings: Irene Reese (Robert), Patricia Lennon (Matthew), John “Jackie” Booth, Robert Booth (Viola), Owen Booth, Daniel Booth (Carol), brother-in-law Willard Weissman, father and mother-in-law Francis and Helen Czajkowski, and brother-in-law Joseph Czajkowski (Jean).
Gayle’s family was a cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, William “Bill” Czajkowski, her beloved daughters, Amy Rubincam (Mark), Christine Czajkowski, Melissa Fallers (Jim) and Stacy Czajkowski (Dwight Jones). Gayle’s love extended to her cherished grandchildren, Brendan (Tara), James (Paige), Adia, Madison, Irene, Aidan, Reid, and Amari; great-granddaughter, Vana; and her second great-granddaughter due on September 6th, Gayle’s birthday. She held a special place in her heart for each of them. She is also survived by her sister, Leona Weissman, sister-in-law Concetta Booth, and brothers-in-law Francis Czajkowski (Elaine), and Ronald Czajkowski (Marcia). Gayle was an integral part of a close-knit extended family, leaving behind numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends, many of whom considered her a second mother.
Gayle was a selfless woman who consistently placed her family at the center of her life. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support made her a priceless figure to her family and friends alike. She touched lives with her warmth and grace, always putting others’ needs before her own.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Esther Howell and Betty Gatson for the dedicated care and support they offered Gayle.
Services to celebrate Gayle’s life will be held in her honor, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together to remember the wonderful person she was. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a celebration of life service will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gayle’s memory to the Nemours Children’s Health, 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE, 19803 or online by clicking here.
Gayle Czajkowski’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.
