Gemma “Gee Gee” LaSasso, age 101, of Newark, DE, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

Born in New York, NY on February 17, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Gustavo and Serafina (Ventura) Abbamonte. Gee Gee worked in administration for law enforcement and as an emergency representative at North Miami Medical Center. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 

In addition to her parents, Gee Gee was preceded in death by her husband, Vito LaSasso; and sisters, Ida Staffa, Yolanda Bell, Mildred Lesca and Flora Langoro. She is survived by her children, John J. Guarriello of Bradenton, FL, Pasqual Guarriello of Hockessin, Sister Patricia Guarriello of Bear and Josephine O’Rourke of Crystal Springs, FL; sister, Delorese Benson of Scottsdale, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. 

All services will be held privately. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gee Gee’s memory to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.

  • I’m sorry to hear about Gee Gee’s passing. She was a very special patient of mine some years back and was always so so sweet. I missed her when I moved my practice and now I miss her again.
