George Joseph Scully Jr., age 75, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Born on October 4, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, George grew up in Clifton Heights before meeting the love of his life, Kay Marie Doyle. They married and built a life together in New Castle, Delaware, where they raised their family. Following Kay’s passing, George later made his home in Laurel, Mississippi.

George proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. A decorated combat veteran, he completed two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he learned the electrical trade, a skill that became the foundation of a successful career.

After leaving the Army, George worked several jobs, including with Amtrak, before pursuing his dream of owning his own business. He eventually founded and operated Scully’s Electric, where he worked alongside his beloved wife and their three sons for many years. Together, they built not only a respected business but also a legacy of hard work, integrity, and dedication to their family and community.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, George found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He coached his sons’ baseball teams, loved listening to music, enjoyed watching Riverdance, and treasured the countless moments spent playing with his boys. Those who knew George will remember his kind heart, quick sense of humor, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Marie (Doyle) Scully; his father, George J. Scully; his mother, Mary Ellen Scully; and his brothers, Robert J. Scully and Joseph J. Scully.

He is survived by his sons, Vincent Scully, Brian Scully, and Philip Scully (Erica); his six cherished grandchildren; and his siblings, Mary Ellen Verdi, Bernadette Deeck, Francis Scully, Nancy M. Deeney, Christine M. Kirby, James J. Scully, John J. Scully, and Roger Scully, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
