George L. Eckrich

February 5, 1951 - July 13, 2025

George L. Eckrich, age 74, of Davenport, FL passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Born on February 5, 1951, in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late George and Audrey Eckrich.  George was a beloved figure in his community and a cherished member of his family.  He graduated from Conrad High School and went on to serve in the National Guards, where he developed a strong sense of duty and camaraderie. His military experience was a significant part of his life, instilling values that he carried with him long after his service ended.

Throughout his life, George had a passion for NASCAR, horseback riding, and his cherished Camaro, which he proudly showcased at Old Town in Davenport. His love for his car was only surpassed by his devotion to his family.

George was a loving husband to Margie for 45 years; a doting father to Deanna (Byron), Melane (Kenny), Shannon (Arron), and Heather (Ryan); a proud Pop Pop to 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. His sisters, Nancy and Carol, along with a host of nieces and nephews, will also hold his memory dear.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Grace; and his grandson, Byron.

His big heart and love for meeting new people were evident to all who knew him. He cherished moments spent at the kitchen table with his wife, catching on life.

Interment will be held privately.  A celebration of life will follow later in Florida and Delaware. Details of these events will be announced in due course. George’s legacy of kindness, love, and community will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s name to donate to Neurofibromatosis Network, PO Box 1530, Wheaton, IL 60187 or online by clicking here.

  • I was heartbroken to hear about George’s passing ,someone who wasn’t just a friend, but truly felt like family. He had a way of lighting up the scene, especially when that Hot Wheelz Ghost Rider Camaro rolled through Old Town like it owned the place. Those nights are unforgettable because he is unforgettable.

His presence was the kind you’ll never forget. The way he greeted me like a cousin, in the stories he told me about his horses and how he would make fun of my Mustang . Losing him leaves an ache that I can’t describe, but I hope he knows how deeply he touched the lives around him.

Cruising won’t ever be the same, but every rev of a Camaro down the street will carry a bit of his spirit. May his memory continue to ride with us. He will be missed. May his family find peace and strength that they need at this time. Thinking of you all , sending love, hugs and prayers. God bless you George
