Georgie Ann Bennett

Georgie Ann Bennett, age 96, of Rising Sun, MD, and formerly of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Born in Wilmington on July 27, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Henry Carl and Elsie B. (Dolson) Wenke. Georgie Ann was a graduate of Wilmington High School and dedicated 20 years as an administrative assistant with Formosa Plastics Corporation in Delaware City, before retiring in 1990.

Georgie Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano. She was a founding member of Red Lion Evangelical Church and treasured her involvement in her Bible study circle. She found great joy in spending quality time with her loving family, bird watching, and gathering with family and friends for lunch at the Glass Kitchen Restaurant. These simple pleasures brought her much happiness throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Georgie Ann was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Bennett; son, Stephen M. Bennett; sisters, Alma Simmons and Ruth Jensen; brother, Henry Wenke; grandchildren, Jesse and Wesley Bennett; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Bennett. She is survived by her sons, James R., Jay D. (Alice), and David C. Bennett (Kim); daughter-in-law, Carol Bennett; sister, Janice Lehman; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle, DE.
