Georgie Mae Mattson

Georgie Mae Mattson, age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Born in Bassett, VA on January 7, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Miller and Elizabeth Carter. Georgie was a graduate of Wilmington High School. For many years, she worked for Bell Atlantic as a long-distance telephone operator. Georgie later went to work for Wilmington Trust where she retired after many years of dedicated service.

Georgie was an avid traveler, often time with her travel buddy and sister, Patricia. Her travel took her overseas and within the United States. Georgie will be remembered as a feisty individual with a sweet disposition.

In addition to her parents, Georgie was preceded in death by her son, Michael Mattson; and brother, George. She is survived by her loving husband, Alex Mattson; son, Beau Merkins (Tammy); sister, Patricia; and several nieces and nephews.

All services will be held privately.
