Gordon W. Beggs
May 17, 1958 - September 7, 2026
Gordon W. Beggs, 68, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on September 7, 2026, while vacationing at one of his favorite places in the world—the beach. He was born on May 17, 1958.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Gordon honorably served his country for six years before spending four years as a Merchant Marine. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to everything he did. He worked for Charles Moore and Sons Contractors and later spent many years with Vector Security. Most recently, Gordon served as a Project Superintendent with Myers Plumbing, LLC, where his experience, leadership, and willingness to help others earned the respect and friendship of those who worked alongside him.
Gordon was the best grandpa in the whole wide world, but he was so much more than that. He was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and colleague. He had a way of making the people he loved feel important. With Gordon, nothing stayed on the surface. If he knew someone, he truly wanted to know them, and if there was something he could do to help, he did it.
Gordon believed in hard work and in people’s ability to overcome difficult things. His love was generous but honest. He would help others, but he would not help them remain stuck. He loved people enough to teach them how strong and capable they truly were.
Above all, Gordon always showed up. Whatever his family needed him to be, he became it. When his children were young, he loved playing Santa Claus. As his family grew, he proudly continued the tradition by becoming both Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for his grandchildren and many other children. He gave freely, never needed recognition, and created memories his family will carry forever.
Gordon loved fishing, boating, surfing, and spending time at the shore, where he found some of his greatest happiness and peace. He was also a passionate Philadelphia sports fan who enthusiastically cheered for the Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles. His love of hockey began when he played for the Little Flyers as a young man, and he continued to share stories from those years throughout his life.
Gordon is survived by his parents, Diana and Charles Moore; his son, William I. Myers Jr., and daughter-in-law, Tiffany Myers; his daughter, Caroline C. Beggs; and his grandchildren, Savion Myers and his partner, Katelynn Moll, Jazmin Maddy, Kingsley Maddy, Derrick Myers, Desiree Myers, Kamryn Steeley, Brinley Myers, June Myers, and Rory Myers. He is also survived by his brother, C.J. Moore and his wife, Omega; his sister-in-law, Colleen Moore; Patricia Turner, the mother of his children and his longtime friend; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Gordon was preceded in death by his sons, Richard J. Beggs and John S. Beggs; his daughter, Kelly L. Myers; his father, Gordon R. Beggs; his brother, Vincent Moore; and his sister, Michele Greathouse.
There will never be enough words to express what Gordon meant to his family or how thankful they are for everything he gave them. He was someone they were deeply proud of and someone they hope to become more like as they continue to grow. They pray he knew, deep in his heart, how fiercely and completely he was loved.
Gordon died at the place where he felt most at peace, and his family truly believes he is resting in that same kind of peace now. They all have the coolest guardian angel there ever was—and knowing Gordon, he will still find a way to show up.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a Celebration of Life honoring Gordon will begin at 12:30 pm. He wasn’t just a sub contractor for me. We became good friends.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family.

Gordon and I met in elementary school and hung out, off and on, throughout early high school. I remember him as a great guy. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; and may the good memories of Gordon bring a smile to your face and help you heal. Fair winds and following seas.

Gordon was man of many words, but they all counted so much. I appreciate how his words never conformed, but elevated thoughts. I’ll miss his great demeanor and cheerfulness towards every soul he met. Simply saying he was a good man would be a disservice. He challenged the norms of everyday thinking. Not to be controversial or contrary, but to say why not the next option. That was uplifting and made everyone push their envelope to be an individual. That in itself is legendary. In my mind that is how I think of him. He was a legend who blazed his own path while helping anyone who was open to it reach theirs. Gordon was inspiring while never trying to out shine anyone. He wanted in my opinion to see everyone do what they loved. I pray for his soul while knowing God has gained a warrior in the next life to shepherd his family and friends toward their personal goal and truths. I won’t say he was flawless, but made you feel like your weren’t that big because he didn’t care of what was and only what you wanted to be. Rest well Gordon as what you left behind was love and wisdom for a family and friends who will never forget you.

Today, I’m not only saying goodbye to a great friend, but to someone who was like a father to me in this country. For so many years, you taught me, guided me, and were always there for me. We shared good times, difficult moments, and even had our disagreements, but we always ended with a hug.
So much of what I know today, I learned from you. A part of the man I am today is because of everything you taught me. I will never forget everything you did for me.
Losing you hurts deeply, and I know I will always miss you. Thank you for being my friend, my mentor, and most of all, like a father to me when I was far away from my family.
Until we meet again, Gordon. Rest in peace. You will always have a place in my heart.

I got to know Gordon over the last year since we joined the King Nummy family. He always asked if we needed anything and shared tips to make camping easier for my family since we were new to camping. We loved hanging by the fires and telling stories. He was a great guy and will definitely be missed!!
