Grace Agnes George

Grace Agnes George, age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Born in Deepwater, NJ on October 31, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Helen (Nicastro) Dougherty. Grace was a nursing graduate of the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. She made her career working in several hospitals including the state hospital and Emily P. Bissell Hospital. In the early 2000’s Grace went back to school and earned her degree from the University of Delaware.

Deep in her faith, Grace was an active member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church for many years. She enjoyed spending her free time reading and writing poetry. She also had a passion for animals. Grace was an activist for everything she believed in and always acted with purpose.

In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her brother, Frank. She is survived by her sons, Mark George, Matthew George (Kim), Michael George (Tracey), and William George (Jen); grandchildren, Liam, AJ, Taylor, Maggie, Karli, William, and Ryan; great-grandson, Aiden; and siblings, Helen, Joseph, and Tony.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on the 12^th day, December, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be held privately in Old St. Anne’s Cemetery.
